The Learning Express offers several extended care programs to provide flexibility in accommodating working families. The Learning Express opens at 7:00am, Monday through Friday, and closes at 6:00pm.

The programs available through the Pre-school building are offered to children in 1st through 4th grades who attend Thurgood Marshall Elementary school. These programs include:

Before Care:
Children wait for the school bus in the Activity Room and may occupy themselves quietly with games, reading and art materials that are available. The Christina School District bus picks up the children directly at our front door at 8:00AM.

After Care:
Children are dropped off by the school bus at the front door and divided into small groups based on grade level. Afternoon snack is provided upon arrival. Children are also given an opportunity to begin their homework. Homework time is a quiet, structured 40-50 minutes daily, depending on grade level. A variety of activities are available for children who finish early, including arts & crafts, computers, organized games, reading and free play. It is our expectation that all children will work on homework unless parent provides written notification stating otherwise. We have a playground specifically for our older children, equipped with age appropriate play equipment and a basketball court. Weather permitting, children enjoy outdoor recess daily.

Learning Express Academy (Before & After Care):
Learning Express Academy offers extended care programs to those children enrolled in our Elementary School during the day. Our school day runs from 8:30am – 3:00pm and the extended care program follows the school year calendar. Before care is offered from 7:00am – 8:30am and after care from 3:00pm – 6:00pm.
