The faculty at The Learning Express is the heart of our school. Many of our staff members have been with us for at least 5 years or more, including the Pre-school Director, Trish Herkins, who has been with us since our inception in 1994. The tenure of our staff provides a level of comfort to the parents, and adds to the family oriented atmosphere of our school.

Our teachers and assistants are professionally trained in child development and early childhood/elementary education. Members of our staff are CPR, First Aid and Medication Certified.

On January 1, 2007, new regulations went into effect for childcare facilities throughout the State of Delaware. One of the new regulations is in regards to staff qualifications, and when these regulations were proposed several years ago, we took immediate action to see that our staff met the new requirements well in advance of these changes. We are pleased to say that we already meet the new regulations regarding our teaching staff’s qualifications.

Our staff continues to attend formal training classes throughout the year in order to expand their skill sets in the areas of early childhood/elementary education. In addition, the Owners and Director/Principal evaluate each staff member through periodic observations.

Background checks are conducted on all new employees. Upon hire, employees also attend orientation with the Owners and Director/Principal.

Providing your child with the attention they need to succeed in their education is important to us at The Learning Express. Therefore, student to teacher ratios in all of our classrooms, from pre-school through elementary, are lower than that of the Delaware state requirements.
